hamstrings oh hamstrings. haha. aching and making me walk/limp like some duck-like animal. irritating. all thanks to deadlifts the other day. haha. weak weak.
school is getting so mundane. lessons are passing like a blurry dream. haha. boringgg. no choice i guess, im just gonna plough through this two years. at least i have canoeing to add some spice into school life.
i think optional trainings like today's are cool. so few people turned up can. haha. like 8? i think its easier to get to know build bonds when the group is smaller. easier to talk to people too. anywayy... quite disppointing la today. after training we had this 4X100 relay J1 vs J2 race, then i ALMOST burned that J2 guy. haha. irritating can, i caught up with him even though i started like 10m behind, then just as i was about to overtake, the 100m was up. dammit. haha. just give me a couple of metres more la. nvm. train train. thats what training is for.
anwayyy - pictures for last week's OG12 chalet are up. cheers to adeline for uploading them. thank god she didnt put up THAT one. the one all those evil souls were planning to use to blackmail. haha. nvm.
i know ive been saying that we should stop talking about the release of the Os results and all cos its a sensitive topic, but i guess i really need to acknowledge the people who helped me achieve what i did. its only right:
1. Mum thanks for putting up with my quirky study habits for throughout the months. (eg. studying through the night to the morning, staying out all day at the CC studyroom, staying out late at joel's place, talking to myself while memorising hist.) youve been most understanding to me.
2. Dad i know i havent been really involved in all sorts of family activities over the past year and such, so i hope you wont hold it against me for choosing not to go out with yall and going out/staying home to study instead.
3. Friends ahem. this is gonna be quite a mouthful: Iggy, Joshua (Huang/Goh), Joel, Kevin, Terence, YueSheng, Hanxun, Zhishen, Weida, Ivan, Albert, Callum, Steven, TeeLeng, Arianto - thanks so much for putting up with my nonsence and lame cracks over these last two years and encouraging me to study with yall, be it after school or during the weekends or holidays. for those that ive been pestering for help with maths and science homework, thanks all the more cos you gave me the starting boost and confidence to continue studying.
i wanna send out special thanks to IGNATIUS LIM aka iggy aka blackie aka darklord: youve been a true brother to me in 3-5 and 4-5. although we probably wont be in the same school after 2nd intake, lets not let our friendship fade yea? remember to call me when you have any plans for soccer at your place or anything. cos i want it that way.
4. Teachers last but not least, the wonderful (and sometimes rather quirky) teachers of possibly the greatest school for guys, Catholic High School: MrYong, MrKrishnan, MrsYap, MrTanJitHuih, MsHua, MdmEE, MrsE.Goh, MrQuay (yes, even MrQuay) - all of you have played such an integral role in building up my confidence and helping me to acquire the skills i needed to get to where i am now. i remember how i walked into my sec3 class feeling rather useless cos i dropped hmt and i wasted my sec1 and sec2 life by playing for two years straight, i also remember the times where grades were like pass-fail-pass-fail. thanks for giving me the chance to change all that.
You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out. Success comes rather easily for you... especially in business and academia. Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You're a strong person.
You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing. You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long. You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.
You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow. You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily. Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.
You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection. You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive. You have the classic "Type A" personality.
You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something. You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense. You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.
You are a free spirit, and you resent anyone who tries to fence you in. You are unpredictable, adventurous, and always a little surprising. You may miss out by not settling down, but you're too busy having fun to care.
You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life. You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You're most comfortable when you're far away from home. You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.
You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone. You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together. At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.
You are well rounded, with a complete perspective on life. You are solid and dependable. You are loyal, and people can count on you. At times, you can be a bit too serious. You tend to put too much pressure on yourself.
Olevel results released today. staying in SAJC. nothing more to it. everything else is irrelevant.
lessons today were a joke. only 11 people from my cg went to SA this morning, lame joked with mrtan for a whole hour during maths tutorial. and the 3 ganjiong spiders ran off to GP while the rest of us just ponned and slacked around the cafe and popcafe. haha. tsk tsk, bad examples eh. then went in cc to get the chemistry test results. hahaha. 17/18!!!! HAHA. so there. errr. yeah, and i pretty much dozed through the lecture.
argh. its been kinda irritating this week. both mshuang and mstsang asked me to join the student council. haha. and my answer of: "errr, no?" doesnt work either, they just seem to get more errr... enthused? like its a challenge to make me join or something. haha. honoured that yall asked me but NOOOOOO. haha. canoeing's my thing.
anyyyway. went for training at 5 today. haha. super cool. gideon, raymond aka charming and i were the only J1s there. heh. what has today's training taught me? - that i need to work out ALOT more. yup. ALOT.
heres to those from OG12 who didnt do as well as they wanted for Os. try to appeal guys/girls! come on, it just wouldnt be the same place without yall around. i really wish yall would make it in. try alright? and dionis, wow, you seriously scared me earlier today. talking to you on the phone, i almost felt like crying with you la. cheer up girl, im here if you need me. APPLY-APPEAL.
haha. i dont think you'll even read this since you dont know its addressed to you. but seriously, thank you for your praises and the recommendation and your high regard for my abilities (whatever they are, im still trying to figure that part out). but i dont think i want to give up what i have at the moment to take you up on your offer. haha. that sort of position doesnt really interest me.
yay. swam laps at ivan's condo this morning. great exercise. im not the swimmer i used to be though. haha. now i run out of breath way to quickly and i cant keep up the laps for too long. never mind, let today be the beginning of a whole new training regime. yeah, ivan says he's free every sunday so he'll let me into his condo to use the pool every week. HAH. yesssss. thats the way. i remember the last time i did regular swimming it helped me to improve my 1.6 timing by 2whole minutes. the aim is to do something similar this time round too. haha. besides, swimming at 11plus to 12noon allows me to work on a nice upper body tan! =D heh.
todays swim was kinda short, just 6 laps freestyle, 6laps breaststroke, 2 laps freestyle (without use of arms) and 2laps breaststroke (without use of arms). i'll improve, i hope... ... nvm. besides that, there was this smoking hot Caucasian woman sunbathing at the poolside. HAHA. oops, i sound so cheeko. nah. shes just hot, perspiring la. nothing more to it.
urgh, now that all the fun's over, im gonna have to spend the rest of the day doing weekend homework (which i "cleverly" left till now). so boring cannn. i should have done it on friday or something. procrastination!
another week gone. another week of studying. another week closer to the release of Os results. haha. i used to think that i really wanted to go to some prestigious top5 JC, and that not being able to make it to one of those places would be like failure. now i see things so differently. yeah, SAJC has grown on me, like really. i think that so long as my score allows me to stay, thats exactly what im gonna do. we'll see next week wont we.
training began this week. nothing much to note. just basically fitness training, not tough at all really. oh well, its only the beginning, i guess the real "training" will begin if we still continue in 2nd intake or something.
xcountry was on wednesday. honestly, a disappointment la. haha. told me just how unfit i still am. tsk. 79th? like wth. i didnt even dare to speed up till the very last bit. urgh. horrid stamina. haha. okay, i need to run more. anyone wants to run after school? help this slowpoke please.
lunched with the OG gang at cineleisure after. i know ive said this before but im really really so sorry i couldnt be to catch the movie together with yall. yeah, like really no choice people. training training. need to become un-weak. haha. paiseh paiseh. i'll try to make it if yall do organise another outing next time. chalet next weekend! i'll be there saturday afternoon.
water training was alright i guess. since not many people had 1-star, it was more like a introduction course than a training. but seriously, the T-1 kayak is oh-so-cool. haha. its like so sleek and easy to paddle, cant wait till they let us try using the canoe. maybe cos its a racing kayak, or maybe cos we were paddling in bedok reservoir, no waves or current. the bus ride home was kinda ridiculous, with fiona and dayna trying guess my name. haha. so filled with rubbish (like why would i be called Harry Potter???).
OH YEAH. i finally bought my new pair of running shoes today. cost me a heart-wrenching $122.50. on offer somemore. haha. tsk. i dont mind spending a little extra on things that matter i guess. if im not wrong, Gideon got the exact same design. haha. we gotta wear the shoes to training together one of these days. HAH.
mmm. what else is nice to talk about. err. AH! yeah, everybody reading just take note: i've just totally lost all self belief and self confidence. cos some NICE person was like so nice smsing me today saying all sorts of NICE stuff. urgh. made me feel so GOOD about myself can. aye. whatever. haha. im kidding. everythings fine. dont mind me.
anyway, dinner tonight was great. it was one of those mixed steamboat buffets. super cool. half the steamboat was regular soup, and the half was "mala" (?numbing chilly?) soup, so it was like errr unique? whats more, the food (chicken, beef, pork, veg, egg, dumplings, prawn, crab) and drinks (lime juice) was like free flow, YUM. besides, it isnt that pricey either, $15 per adult and $7 per kid. reasonable.
just look at the size of that pincer.
Ritchie Valens - La Bamba
i think Ritchie Valens was one of the greatest tragedies of the music world. he obviously has so much singing talent and flair, and he ended up dying on his first ever aeroplane flight? wth. yeah, do check out his other songs, like "Donna". beautiful.
HELLO! yeah i dont know why but ive been using caps as well as exclamations alot recently. dont mind me.
alrighty. ive started my search for a new pair of running shoes. yeah, i know that mine are still in okay condition, its just that this constant rainy weather we've been having isnt helping cos it keeps getting my shoes wet. so irritating.
note: stuffing balls of newspaper into a wet shoe seriously helps to get it dry really quick.
sooo. initially arranged to go queensway with kevin on saturday but... me being a super lazy pig, i slept all the way to 11 and didnt pick up his call when he called. haha. then he didnt pick up my calls for the rest of the day, so we didnt manage to arrange a meeting. nvm, being free actually ended up suiting me cos i found time in the evening to go for a short 2.4 run at serangoon stadium. i was so pleased with myself for dragging myself up from my nap (yes i know im lazy) and making myself run. THEN, i realised that i didnt bring a watch to time my run. SHITTT. hahaha. nvm, evening runs after a thunderstorm are really nice, especially during the light drizzle, cooling and such, every breath becomes so refreshing.
anwayyy. sunday didnt turn out much better. although kevin PROMISED to call me after his church ended at 10, he didnt. tsk. haha. he waited for me to call him at 11 before telling me that he couldnt go out with me cos he was sick. huh. and there i was wondering why he couldnt just msg me earlier. nvm, its alright bro. thankfully, i managed to ask out the equally bored junlong to go with me. haha. took a super irritating 1hour bus ride down to queensway where junlong and i looked through all the shops twice over before deciding that nothing that looked even halfway decent fit my budget. despite queensway being the wholesale shopping centre for sporting goods, its still darn ex. like barely any running shoes under $150. damm. it wasnt completely fruitless though, junlong managed to get a good deal for month contacts from one of the optical shops there. shhhhh. hes not supposed to be wearing. haha. dont tell his mum. (but then again. odd place to locate optical shops aint it? in the middle of sporting shops. ohwell.)
bus-ed down to plaza singapura to take a look at World of Sports... and well, to let junlong get some food to fill his growling stomach. HAH. hungry pig. stopped by kfc where he ordered a zinger meal (like right before dinner time!) and i was sitting beside him beign super annoying by constantly telling him how disgustingly unhealthy fast food was. haha. oily oily fatty cancerous lumps of meat... well you get the point. well, i think im gonna try to swear off fast food like macs, kfc, burger king, err.? yeah. sort of. i guess namely those with fries and such. nvm. moving on - i think i saw some rather not bad shoes at plaza but i didnt have much cash. wasnt sure if i should get them. sooo, i decided to be wishy washy for once and wait. haha. anyway, junlong even managed to find a present for his friend while we were there.
all in all, i wasted time. junlong ended up getting a very good bargain by agreeing to accompany me. he got everything he needed, whereas i got ... lunch? haha. nvm nvm. i'll go back down this friday to get what i need.
first canoeing training tomorrow! ahhh! haha. ive just spent the weekend being frightened by canoeist friends from other schools. guess i shouldnt have been talking to them. never mind that, im gonna persevere no matter what, gotta make it in. wish me luck.
haiii. school is so irritating. they ended the lecture system today and reverted to the tutorial system earlier than expected. although they told us that the timetable would only be put into effect next week, they decided to implement it starting today. tskkkkk. no more slacking. studying again. eeeeeeeeyer.
another thing. its so annoying that the school's gonna keep forming us into groups just so they can split us up a short while later after we've made friends. if you think about it: theres an OG for intake1 then now we're split up into classes for lessons, then when intake2 comes, there'll be another orientation group for a few days of orientation, then we'd be split into classes AGAIN for lessons. huh. how irritating. haha.
cca sign-up today. let me just add in here that Gideon Wee is super hyper and super crazy. haha. i went around the cca booths with him to take a look, even though we both already planned to go for canoeing beforehand. well i'll recap at the stuff we went to look at. i think we took a looooong look at the choir, and the publications club, netball, CULINARY club. i think he also wrote his name down for strategy club or something. heh.
OH! i was approached by this guy from waterpolo who said i had the waterpolo 'look'. haha. wth was that supposed to mean. i totally wasnt interested but then i just decided to play along:
waterpolo guy: hey. you look like you play waterpolo. want to join our cca? me: errr. what? waterpolo guy: yeah. come over to our booth to take a look. me (browses) waterpolo guy: oh! we're having a demo match at the pool later at around 4. come and take a look. if not, you could also join our training on monday! bring your trunks alright? me: *thumbs up* haha. sure sure. i'll see you. me (walks away laughing)
heh. oops. guess i shouldnt have done that huh. ahh. too late. anyway. im suddenly kinda worried that canoeing will just reject me or something la. i dont mind roughing it out to train or stuff like that. just that i saw their morning training this morning. eeyer. the guys there do so damm many chin-ups la. one of them i noticed did at least 20 before even slowing down. shitttttttttt. i can only do like 10 now? haha. omg. i think im gonna run any evening that i dont feel too shagged, then i'll drop by the fitness corner to do chin-ups. ahem. i need intense training, and i hope they dont find me too unfit. eeyer.
no more external motivation. i need more motivation.
Red Jumpsuit Apparatus- Guardian Angel
im sorry about the video. apparent this song doesnt have a mv so i just chose some random video. its a nice song though.
alright alright. i guess nows a good time to try to capture the happenings of the past few days into a few paragraphs of insignificant words. i know i wont ever be able to do the orientation justice with this post but i'll be trying my best yea? do tag in if you feel ive missed anything or something along those lines. here we go:
*AHEM* allow me to digress a little here alright? i just wanna make a point that yall (whoever is reading) should never ever ever ever take your eyes off whatever a barber or a hairdresser is doing to your hair. really. in the event that you do so, you could end up looking like this:
you HAVE been warned.
okay okay. back to the topic at hand - SAJC Orientation 08
DAY 1 - Wednesday 020108 okay. me, being the rather kiasu me. yes, me. kiasu. haha. alright enough emphasis. met up with zhishen, tawan and nk at potong pasir mrt at roughly 0630. (yea i know... CRAZY) anyway, i guess the atmosphere was kinda tense, it being a new school and all. haha. i can still remember huddling in a corner with all the cat high guys and looking about at all the other people doing exactly the same thing. then, into the CC and split into our separate OGs. (OG12!!!! YAY!!) haha. i felt damm alone.
*comfort zone gone*
after a short address by the OGLs, we moved on to ice-breakers. honestly, i was, and still am, super impressed by the ice breakers that were used. cant speak for the other OGs, but this was the first time that the first game didnt involve us getting to know each other's names. tree and branch catching (???) was cool. firstly, it promoted enthusiasm. secondly, i got to know Billy.
*first orientation friend*
moving on moving on. skipping all those admins and talks. haha. boring boring. before going on to the next activity, i guess i should give a brief intro regarding our orientation plan: well, the theme is 'LOST' and basically we have crash landed on some ulu ulu island or something. we have been taken in by 5 native tribes - Siersha, Achomawi, Iroquois, Nahane, Tienno. and now we're kinda playing games simulating the trials and obstacles we face while trying to escape the island.
uhuh uhuh. DAY1 game 'The Hunt' was basically a treasure hunt, testing our ability to work together as a team. essentially, it was like mad rush round the school, allowing us to familiarise ourselves with our new surroundings. haha. i felt that the mass dance was a fiasco. perhaps it was cos i didnt know people and everyone around me was shy. haha. i was darn affected. felt to awkward to really enjoy.
DAY2 - Thursday 030108 early morning. practiced cheering as a tribe in the LT. haha. kinda cool. Achomawi's cheers are darn cool i tell you. di di di di di di di di .... ACHOMAWI! haha. you should hear it. its damm cute. shortly after, we moved on to the hall for mass games. for some unknown and bizzare reason, chs guys got called up on stage to do some forfeit dance. haha. *ahem* after that, *ahem ahem* though we all agreed to do the Gongjiao cheer, most of the other guys *ahem ahem ahem* pangseh-ed me while i was halfway through shouting the cheer. freak. damm paiseh can. haha. nvm. alright. mass dance this day was awesome. hung out with Billy, Adeline, Darryl, Rico, JiaJun and Geraldine. stuck really close to OGL JueYing and learnt the dance moves more thoroughly. haha.
'The Flood' was refreshing. lets see, what better way to foster OG teamwork than to put us through a series of competitive inter-OG water games? nothing.throwing water bombs, getting hits by cups of water, sticking our heads in buckets of water then buckets of flour. you name it, we did it. haha. OG dinner at Plaza Singapura after so that we could go buy our props for Finale night. mrted back with Mann ( i still dont know how to pronounce!!) and Alynn.
DAY3 - Friday 040108 started the day with a series of damm funny stage games. no idea who are the geniuses behind such games. haha. very nicely done. to make things better, the participants were all also so sporting. after which, headed out into the surrounding blocks to do a collect newspapers for some super short CIP. lunched at some eatery (yummy chicken rice!) before heading back to school for Finale cheer practice as well as mascot/ identity/ banner preparations.
*face throwing begins*
in case you havent figured it out yet. yes, for our mascot, we chose the theme 'Bananas in Pajamas'. while we wisely left the more skill and detail oriented task of designing and preparing the costumes to the girls, us guys from OG12 and OG13 hid ourselves in some corner to practice our skit. haha. hilarious i tell you. i dont know how it was when viewed, but we sure had a blast doing practices and actually acting it out on stage. Finale was a grand display of all the costumes, mascots, cheers and skits. wonderfully done i think. haha. you could really feel the enthusiasm flowing. oh how i love occasions like that one. disco night ensued. you know, im pretty sure the band was great, the vocals must have been good. however, crowded at the front with all my OG12 mates, all i heard was the blasting of the music. haha. and everybody was jumping about wildly! ahem. i think it was fun... and uncomfortable. i think i must have been quite a sight. painted yellow, wearing a costume, trying to jump and yet at the same time trying to prevent my super large shorts (from Darryl) from falling off. haha. yes. uncomfortable.
*phototaking*
Orientation Outing - Saturday 050108 met up with Darryl and Adeline at Plaza Singapura to buy gifts for JueYing. headed down together to Marina Square to hook up with the others.
note: Marina Square is really crowded on weekends. looking for a space to eat with 13 people isnt easy. be patient.
alright. dinnered at 'Changing Appetites', took a short walk around, had ice cream at 'Swensens' before finally calling it a night. Dionis's blurness is damm cute can. haha. the way she just blanks out sometimes is darn funny. rock on girl. thanks for bringing all the liveliness and laughter to our outing. JueYing, JiaJun, Dionis and I then made our way to the mrt as a group. caught all the last trains back to Serangoon with JueYing. super lucky. haha. barely made the train from Dohby Ghaut. another thing, i guess the late night train rides are super quick. while timing, we noticed that the train took only approximately 10mins to go from Dohby to Serangoon. cool. gotta try that again sometime.
finally, just a shout out to all Achomawi tribesmembers passing by, especially OG12 members: thanks for everything. its been a wonderful orientation at SAJC these past few days.

annnd. for your final viewing pleasure/ entertainment:
pictures from adeline: http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=3AZNG7NizZOOA
hello hello. haha. im feeling super useless at the moment. theres FINALE cheer and song and dance tomorrow and im supposed to planning. instead, im here blogging. essentially that means that the ive left the group of girls alone in the msn convo since the other guys either arent online, or left the convo sometime ago. hahaha. ahem. tralalalalalala. yup. wasting time.
im a 'doer' not a 'thinker'
haha. useless useless. im letting the girls come up with the lyrics and such. haha. useless useless. i guess id better go back and take a look now. haha. FINALE tomorrow! ACHOMAWI!
