Face thrown - Hair cut - simply ME

alright alright. i guess nows a good time to try to capture the happenings of the past few days into a few paragraphs of insignificant words. i know i wont ever be able to do the orientation justice with this post but i'll be trying my best yea? do tag in if you feel ive missed anything or something along those lines. here we go:

*AHEM* allow me to digress a little here alright? i just wanna make a point that yall (whoever is reading) should never ever ever ever take your eyes off whatever a barber or a hairdresser is doing to your hair. really. in the event that you do so, you could end up looking like this:

you HAVE been warned.

okay okay. back to the topic at hand - SAJC Orientation 08

DAY 1 - Wednesday 020108
okay. me, being the rather kiasu me. yes, me. kiasu. haha. alright enough emphasis. met up with zhishen, tawan and nk at potong pasir mrt at roughly 0630. (yea i know... CRAZY) anyway, i guess the atmosphere was kinda tense, it being a new school and all. haha. i can still remember huddling in a corner with all the cat high guys and looking about at all the other people doing exactly the same thing. then, into the CC and split into our separate OGs. (OG12!!!! YAY!!) haha. i felt damm alone.

*comfort zone gone*

after a short address by the OGLs, we moved on to ice-breakers. honestly, i was, and still am, super impressed by the ice breakers that were used. cant speak for the other OGs, but this was the first time that the first game didnt involve us getting to know each other's names. tree and branch catching (???) was cool. firstly, it promoted enthusiasm. secondly, i got to know Billy.

*first orientation friend*

moving on moving on. skipping all those admins and talks. haha. boring boring. before going on to the next activity, i guess i should give a brief intro regarding our orientation plan: well, the theme is 'LOST' and basically we have crash landed on some ulu ulu island or something. we have been taken in by 5 native tribes - Siersha, Achomawi, Iroquois, Nahane, Tienno. and now we're kinda playing games simulating the trials and obstacles we face while trying to escape the island.

uhuh uhuh. DAY1 game 'The Hunt' was basically a treasure hunt, testing our ability to work together as a team. essentially, it was like mad rush round the school, allowing us to familiarise ourselves with our new surroundings. haha. i felt that the mass dance was a fiasco. perhaps it was cos i didnt know people and everyone around me was shy. haha. i was darn affected. felt to awkward to really enjoy.

DAY2 - Thursday 030108
early morning. practiced cheering as a tribe in the LT. haha. kinda cool. Achomawi's cheers are darn cool i tell you. di di di di di di di di .... ACHOMAWI! haha. you should hear it. its damm cute. shortly after, we moved on to the hall for mass games. for some unknown and bizzare reason, chs guys got called up on stage to do some forfeit dance. haha. *ahem* after that, *ahem ahem* though we all agreed to do the Gongjiao cheer, most of the other guys *ahem ahem ahem* pangseh-ed me while i was halfway through shouting the cheer. freak. damm paiseh can. haha. nvm. alright. mass dance this day was awesome. hung out with Billy, Adeline, Darryl, Rico, JiaJun and Geraldine. stuck really close to OGL JueYing and learnt the dance moves more thoroughly. haha.

Walk- Pose- Walk- Pose - Walk - Pose - Pose - Pose

'The Flood' was refreshing. lets see, what better way to foster OG teamwork than to put us through a series of competitive inter-OG water games? nothing.throwing water bombs, getting hits by cups of water, sticking our heads in buckets of water then buckets of flour. you name it, we did it. haha. OG dinner at Plaza Singapura after so that we could go buy our props for Finale night. mrted back with Mann ( i still dont know how to pronounce!!) and Alynn.

DAY3 - Friday 040108
started the day with a series of damm funny stage games. no idea who are the geniuses behind such games. haha. very nicely done. to make things better, the participants were all also so sporting. after which, headed out into the surrounding blocks to do a collect newspapers for some super short CIP. lunched at some eatery (yummy chicken rice!) before heading back to school for Finale cheer practice as well as mascot/ identity/ banner preparations.

*face throwing begins*

in case you havent figured it out yet. yes, for our mascot, we chose the theme 'Bananas in Pajamas'. while we wisely left the more skill and detail oriented task of designing and preparing the costumes to the girls, us guys from OG12 and OG13 hid ourselves in some corner to practice our skit. haha. hilarious i tell you. i dont know how it was when viewed, but we sure had a blast doing practices and actually acting it out on stage. Finale was a grand display of all the costumes, mascots, cheers and skits. wonderfully done i think. haha. you could really feel the enthusiasm flowing. oh how i love occasions like that one. disco night ensued. you know, im pretty sure the band was great, the vocals must have been good. however, crowded at the front with all my OG12 mates, all i heard was the blasting of the music. haha. and everybody was jumping about wildly! ahem. i think it was fun... and uncomfortable. i think i must have been quite a sight. painted yellow, wearing a costume, trying to jump and yet at the same time trying to prevent my super large shorts (from Darryl) from falling off. haha. yes. uncomfortable.

*phototaking*

Orientation Outing - Saturday 050108
met up with Darryl and Adeline at Plaza Singapura to buy gifts for JueYing. headed down together to Marina Square to hook up with the others.

note: Marina Square is really crowded on weekends. looking for a space to eat with 13 people isnt easy. be patient.

alright. dinnered at 'Changing Appetites', took a short walk around, had ice cream at 'Swensens' before finally calling it a night. Dionis's blurness is damm cute can. haha. the way she just blanks out sometimes is darn funny. rock on girl. thanks for bringing all the liveliness and laughter to our outing. JueYing, JiaJun, Dionis and I then made our way to the mrt as a group. caught all the last trains back to Serangoon with JueYing. super lucky. haha. barely made the train from Dohby Ghaut. another thing, i guess the late night train rides are super quick. while timing, we noticed that the train took only approximately 10mins to go from Dohby to Serangoon. cool. gotta try that again sometime.

finally, just a shout out to all Achomawi tribesmembers passing by, especially OG12 members: thanks for everything. its been a wonderful orientation at SAJC these past few days.
