;(

urgh ive been feeling super lifeless and moody today... my body doesnt seem to be responding to what my mind tells it to do, and the ability for my body to recover from muscle aches and cuts and all seems to have vanished...

i hate it..

on top of that, i think i might be coming down with something, feeling super horrible all of a sudden...

if only life was easy as 1,2,3,4

;/

this week, its all about the food. yeah, its great, i know.

all started last saturday at granny's birthday dinner. trader's hotel - buffet - whole array of expensive delicacies - me - free flow. hell yeah. haha. lobsters, oysters, huge prawns, beef - imba. haha yeah, not to mention a great opportunity to catch up with the cousins again. its been so so so so so so so so long since the whole gang met up together like that... so much noise and excitement and laughs. haha. for one, i bet you cant imagine a bunch of teens/adults playing with the nuts meant to be for the hotel table's decoration. we were throwing them around and slipping them into people's pockets and bags and everything ... childish, random fun. =D

sunday wasnt so much about the food, though. met up with the old 6D clique for the first time in like forever and went over to sentosa to chill. it was kinda a trip that we didnt really plan for, pretty impromptu i suppose, didnt even come up with activities to do.. but at least we got to see each other again, all very nice people to talk to, ive come to realise. it was stupid of me, but i just realise that i didnt get a full group photo. dammit. lol. dinnered with most of them afterwards at harbourfront centre, although felicia and jamie had to leave early ... it was there that i found a really cool sports shop with cheap stuff, haha just my kind of place seriously, can buy cheaper gear ;)

anyway. i was quite surprised to discover that junqiang's friend was also performing in the same orchard play as rachel, so at least i had someone to go down with me. in the process, eechun and jowell decided to tag along too, for some *ahem-ahem* reasons. it was a pretty good play, im always amazed how well the people can sing and dance at the plays. note: this comes from a person with the voice of a crow and two left feet. hahaha. but anyway, i think it was a great performance luh .. the energy was fantastic, i finally got my picture.. alright pictures ahaha. oh oh - there was a fight in the street just in front of the performance area just before i got there. ha. i heard it was some racial issue, where this malay man lashed out at some angmoh. lol i reached just in time to see the angmoh being led away by police officers, he had this really stoned look, and was mumbling to himself. haha drunk ass. did i mention i dislike drinkers and smokers? yeap, now you know...

i guess the only thing left to talk about would be the chalet. im really really really (honestly) sorry that i came late. i thought that since yall didnt have any concrete plans for that day it'd just be like chilling around the room and stuff so i didnt feel the urency to rush over. SORRY.

anyway, i got my sushi buffet with matthias and johnathan. haha. shiok ah. when i first heard that the rest wanted to watch "IP Man" i was quite unenthusiastic, but i'll admit my mistake cos on hindsight it was a pretty cool show. very inspiring and some real food for thought, and haha there were quite a lot of 'waterworks' next to me, aye... the rest of the day was pretty uneventful i suppose, until the gift exchange. that was a damned good idea methinks. haha brought quite a bit of anticipation and a ton of laughter.

afterwards was the night cycling, from 11-6. wonderful, just wonderful. long hours on that bike seat just did wonders for my poor ass. HAHA. the only thing i regret was that we didnt manage to get everyone to go on the ride. i kinda felt like we ps-ed those back at the chalet by staying out the whole night... anywayy, we cycled from pasir ris park to bedok reservoir to visit our boat shed, then it off towards East Coast Park, following the Park Connector (PCN). PCN led us to ecp, where we took a short break, then we continued on to Changi Village. there was this stretch, along the outside of Changi Airport, where it felt like we weren't moving at all.. haha it seemed to stretch on forever, pls... anyway, after having some drinks at changi village, and seeing some 'local flavour' it was a pretty straightforward run back down to DowntownEast. haha. shiok ah. took a power nap at the beach benches with louis and ceyong cos we felt too sticky and disgusting to go into the room. haha. and that concludes my weekend.

fun right? Christmas is coming up, sadly enough, i'll probably spend it doing self trainings since i dont celebrate. haha. ohwell... can ask me out =D i'll probs be down at koon's house to chill on friday though. heh. till next time!

back

back from a busy few days of sentosa then chalet. suffering from lack of sleep and acute buttache from overnight cycling.

gimme a couple of hours of rest and i'll be back to update.

Belief

i am loathe to believe that i cant put as much power into my strokes as other people.

never.

mentality

and i agree. we're just not there.

when we meet in the morning and say: wow, im aching, so tired.
we're not there

when we tell ourselves: aye, conserve some energy cos theres training this whole week.
we're not there

coach says: we'll do 5sets today
when we hear that and think: huh. thats quite a lot, it'll be tiring..
we're not there

preparing for competition is not cannot be a monotonous routine. every day, every training, every set, every rundown, its gotta be there.

determination. focus. aggressiveness.

foiled again ...

following yesterday's dismal failure, i finally managed to drag myself out of bed at the sound of my 0615 alarm today to go for my morning run. i was like stumbling about all over blindly getting my stuff and washing up... then i realised that it was pouring outside. super downer ...

well back to studies. after doing physics homework the whole day yesterday, and today's tuition with mrong, im officially scared of physics already. ive forgotten quite a lot of what i learnt this year, not to mention that next year's stuff seems pretty tough. screwed..

lunched with naomi after tuition. haha. pretty good conversation - evil girll.. watch out for bad karma i tell you. more little kids shall vomit on you!

oh i guess i forgot to mention: one of our mentors for the perth trip has his own band. and kohen (thats him) was kind enough to give out some free cds. though im not usually i fan of rock, he's got me converted. o

Perth - continued

lets go lets go! im gonna make an attempt to recall enough stuff from the trip to write up a post that gives credit to the trip. wish me luck.

08122008 - Monday
after meeting at the airport late last night, enduring the overnight plane ride (eating maggie mee -wth right), we finally arrived in Perth and about 7 in the morning. breakfast was over at King's Park, where we had this totally lovely scenery. like really. i think under those weather conditions, it was like perfect. well, they seemed to enjoy it:

Photobucket

took a short tour of the place and learned a little about the indigenous people from a local guide before we had to rush off for the next item on our itinery. once again, beautiful place - just look at the pretty flower, damn bright:

Photobucket

lunch was ... urgh - dont wanna talk about it. im disappointed.

well had workshops at the ECU afterwards. super tiring, ahem not very interesting... gave me headaches. haha. but well... it was something new? BBQ dinner! prepared at the university, ate in the open! shiok ah.

over our apartments after, bunked with tzetian (same room), gideon and johnny (same apartment).

09122008 - Tuesday
training at the olympic training centre was fun. now dont be mistaken, i loved the weather while we were over there, even though it felt like there was an airconditioner on when we were outside, but it was freakin freezing while we were paddling. fingers and face was super numb. well not going to over-emphasize the training, good to have new help.. lunch was subway! haha expected but still appreciated..

shopping session at HarbourTown afterwards.. lotsa lotsa shops, nothing much to buy. haha. went in with the plan to get some clothes, a new bagpack and new wallet... came out with souveniors for family and one paltry plain tshirt for myself. haha ohwell..

gideon was our master chef for that night. we totally cooked too much spagetti, too little sauce. ohwell, it was good though. cheers.

took the train over to the beach for the sunset. under normal conditions i guess it wouldnt be anything that special, except that the weather was super imba. haha. the wind was blowing like crazy, cooling to the max. made for a especially enjoyable time, although i didnt appreciate the taupok guys... not fun. tsk. sand allll over, if you get what i mean.

10122008 - Wednesday
training session again, followed by shopping at some more upmarket place. not really my thing to spend so much, didnt get anything apart from nougat? haha. yum.

hmms. there was dinner at some locally famous, apparently, fishandchips joint. it was made somewhat healthier because we got them to grill the fish instead of fry it, and replaced the chips with salad. haha. kinda not fish and chips at all anymore is it..

well walked over to Freemantle Prison for a torchlight tour. its a pretty creepy place that i wouldnt like to be in alone i guess, made worse cos the sun had already set. wasnt that bad with everyone there together luh, i just cant imagine being alone in there, even in the daytime... tour included several scares, kinda freaked out rachel i think, aww, fiona to a lesser extent? ahh cant blame them.

ice cream at ColdRock afterwards. i guess the girls working there were pretty sweet to be willing to stay past their closing hours just to finish serving the lot of us. it WAS pretty late by Australian standards. haha did i mention that practically everything is closed by 5 or 6 in the evening? omg right.

11122008 - Thursday
morning flight back to sunny sunny singapore. sat with fiona and mrkieu on plane back... urgh, mrkieu never gets tired of teasing people. haha i'll admit that its quite entertaining when he isnt targetting you. lol. he even disturbs msong! like wth... anywayy, we're back! yay.

Photobucket

sidenote - just found out today that eloise is back in singapore until 1st jan! eh who wants to organise something! like a get together to meet her? to catch up? pls not me again... haha.

Perth

just got back from Perth at noon. its been a new experience these last 4days, living with just teammates and away from the comforts of home. well, thats not saying that the apartments we were staying in werent nice and homely, its just - theres no place like home.

sight-seeing, training, shopping, chilling. it was a pretty hectic 4days i would say. waking up early, sleeping late, long long days, really short nights.. it was kinda strange.

ahh shucks, my mind and body is still kinda in a weird state from the plane ride and the strange sleeping hours and all. i'll come back to update properly when ive gathered my thoughts and feelings.

photos are up on photobucket. =D

=DD

just completed my first ever 21.1km this morning, and its off to perth with the team tonight - wonderful.

its been a long week. like seriously. double trainings are oh so draining, not mention all the travelling time and the recent sucky weather.. well, its over for awhile, from next week i'll be able to do my self training to work on my crappy fitness levels. yay?

anyway, finally bought a new pair of running shoes yesterday from queensway. cheers to tzetian who not only waited for me at tampines when the stupid nokia shop fouled up and took at long time to return my phone, but also accompanied me all the way to queensway and walked around with me and gave me comments and pointers in buying runnng shoes. had pretty interesting chats the whole journey though, there and back - dont ask why, but we were randomly discussing the fear that some psychopath could release a shark or crocodile into bedok.R and kill all of us. haha. as i said - dont ask.

Standard Charteded 21.2km today. urgh. little/no training? well what to say? its a new experience for sure. even before the race started, i decided that i wouldnt go for speed cos i was scared i'd burn out. arranged to run with joel, yuesheng and .. yuesheng's friend? haha. lost ys and his friend less than 500m into the race (wth) so the rest of it was just trying to maintain a constant pace and not burn out before the end.. im guessing that its because of the pace that we were going, but i didnt even pant or run out of breath once during the run, very confortable, although im pretty sure that a fast snail could have owned us. heh. one thing to note, although it wasnt much of a cardio workout, the pain due to the repeated impacts of my feet on the ground was pretty extensive. i think my old injuries (left ankle - right knee) acted up again, and im still feeling the effects of the knee.. ow?

well well... PERTH! PERTH. yeahh... just a couple more hours. i'm so gonna make the most of this trip, both in the sense of training and interaction and buying stuff. haha. how often will i get to australia, gotta shop luh.. actually already bought some stuff in prep for the trip, but i'll save the overall update for when i get back. lol.

till then..

sian..

eh im damn sad now okayy.. so many trainings = so much travelling time to and fro from home to school, and school to bedok, and home to bedok. look, im not complaining about the trainings, sure im tired - but im loving it, its the most meaningful holidays ive head, for once i cant say im bored. haha.

but well, im damn sad cos my phone just decided to let itself die yesterday. one moment it was all working fine, and i was listening to my music, then i put it into my bag for awhile and it committed suicide. turned itself off and i cant turn it on now... sucks. aye. now WHAT am i do to on those long train/bus rides? and its so inconvenient cos i have to bring it for servicing at tampines... like Century Square?

to those who have been telling me im crazy for 'wasting' my hols in training, ive got a quote for you:

You can make yourself miserable, or you can make yourself strong. It takes the same amount of energy.
-Carlos Casteneda

well, i know ive made my choice. have you? =P
