OAL CAMP '06
to any future OALs reading this: the camp you have just been through was nothing but a beginning for you guys. you still have much to learn that we cannot teach. experience is what we cannot pass down to you all. do not forget what you all have planned last night. talk is cheap- so make good your intentions of change with whatever you all have claimed that is going wrong. be sure to take into consideration the time and manpower limitations that yall will face.

hike from CHS to CACC- this was a really effective way of seeing how you all work when under the conditions of fatigue and when left on your own. many of you need to be more involved with the events going on around you.
kayaking- from this activity, we could see that many of you need to build up on your physical endurance. the kayaking itself was not that tough, and seeing so many of you guys struggling on such a short expedition is worrying. futhermore, you all need to be able to take care of your juniors more. to do so, it is a must to look out for them and not to be so absorbed with only yourselves.
orienteering planning- similarly, from this activity, some of you guys really disappointed us leaders. though we understood that you all were very tired and sleepy, it is no excuse that you all were so 'zoned out'. from what we could see, many people totally did not contribute to the group discussions, stating tiredness as a reason. this is the sort of selfish attitude that will cause you all many problems in future. change it while theres time.
BURST/Sec2 camp planning- personally, i was rather pleased by the thought and effort put into the planning of these important events. the thing to note is that you all have to think about the time and facilitiy constraints that you all have with CACC. do not just plan all those stuffs and forget about it next year, brainstorm and integrate the better ideas into the camp programmes.

Finally:
the last thing to note is that you all are now leaders, and that you all are going to be looked upon by the campers in future camps for advice and help. so do lead by setting good examples and do things with more urgency. the camps that you all take will be filled with periods of extreme mental and physical tiredness. make sure to spread out the work evenly and to put up an united front in front of the campers. and REMEMBER: SAFETY FIRST IN EVERYTHING.

GOOD LUCK
GOOD BYE.

haha. didnt have to work yesterday. so went out.

i cant really say much about my day, later get into trouble with some people. i tell you, yesterday was rather interesting and even thrilling. i think im nuts for finding that sort of thing thrilling. haha.

walked around from place to place the entire afternoon and barely spent anything. i think the majority of what i spent came from the mrt fares. ahha.

Friday, November 24, 2006

finally im back from chiangmai and able to exercise again- urgh. eat-bus ride-sleep... surely put on weight.

Monday 201106
visited the temple of the white elephant: (Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep Rajvoravihara) while waiting for the hotel rooms to be ready. that pretty much took the entire afternoon. we then had dinner at this seafood restaurant called 'NANGNUAL'. really good food. after that was the browsing of the night market- WOW. i even managed to find the time for a foot massage. haha. wth.

ps: the hotel i stayed in 'Imperial Mae Ping' is the one that the famous singer Deng Lijun passed away in.. brrr.

Tuesday 211106
the morning was really cool. had a tour of the Maesa Elephant Camp. they have elephant shows where the elephants play soccer and paint! haha. so cute. i fed the elephant an entire bunch of bananas too. HAH. the rest of the day was REALLY REALLY boring. all the standard boring factories where they try to get you to buy all those expensive goods. i didnt really fancy the leather/ animal skin factory- was really inhumane i feel.

Wednesday 221106
on this day we went to the more moutainous region of chiang rai. en-route, there was this hot spring that we stopped by. you can actually cook eggs in that water! there was this really shiny and bright temple that was supposedly built by a single person over the span of 7years... visited several tribal villages where we saw the different peoples. on the bus ride back- there was this scary moment where the bus swerved to avoid a turning car which almost resulted in an accident

Thursday 231106
since all the activites were over, we had the day off- freeandeasy. so we took a free shuttle bus to the nearby shopping centre- Central Airport Plaza to while the time away. took a nap in the afternoon. at dinner, i was kinda drowsy, and so i misheard the waiter:

waiter: e'cue me
[i heard: kill me]
me: HUH?!? what? OH. sorry.

Friday 241106
early flight back to singapore. home sweet home.

WHEW. WHAT A DAY.

this has got to be the most crazy-physically tiring-mentally taxing day i've experienced in a long long time. slept at 2 this morning, thanks to the encouragement and influence on SOMEONE. woke up at 630 and went to city hall for the vertical marathon. that really sucked big time. didnt prepare for it and couldnt do well. hai- 12.45 is slower than my previous timing of 1236. ick.

after that it was scurry-scurry-scurry back home to take a shower and change for work. i'm going to be totally honest when i say: MAN IM GLAD THERE IS ONLY ONE GRAND OPENING. i bet i washed more than 200 bowls, claypots, plates and other eating utensils today. urgh. the skin on my fingers are rotting. and to think that i had to tear open the inumerable bloody cardboard boxes to get the dusty utensils out. ARGH. nvm, the mopping-opening- washing-arranging-packing is over and done with. and besides, got $4.50/hr for the 5hrs we worked today! thats like $22.50! woohoo. soooo cool.

visiting granny has become more of a weekly thing now that shes no longer staying in our house. well i managed to drag myself over there to see her before we leave for thailand later tonight.

COUNTDOWN
in approximately 7 hours ill be on a flight to chiangmai where im so gonna miss my nice comfy bed. ohwell. i think the trip is gonna be fun- i hope.

BYE ALL- ill be back on friday the 25th.

the vertical marathon's tommorow. off to thailand(chengmai) monday morning. well that just signifies that another year is over. wish me luck for tommorrow. oh and by the way, dont ask me to update my friendster account. im letting it die, its a waste of time.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHERYL

Thursday, November 16, 2006

well ive finally found the time and the mood to blog again. its been a rather depressing week after finding out about 'that'.

I GOT A JOB. haha. well im only gonna start work next week when i get back from thailand anyway. so ill just have to settle for feeling excited and well slightly apprehensive? i seriously dont know how itll be working as a waiter! for all those who wanna come visit- not disturb mind you- im gonna be working at some new cafe/restaurant at serangoon gardens from the 25th of Nov onwards. yeah. ill give feedback on the food so do come try!

haha. this really takes my mind off all the unhappy stuff. and ive found the motivation to start my routine exercises again. yay.

arsenal vs liverpool- 3 nil to the gunners
well that settles the football for this weekend. ends on a rather good note too. i even managed to get in some exercise this weekend. went running with my dumbells this morning and looked like some idiot carry 6kg of weights for the 1.6km. its not as easy as it seems, ill need to work on that.

on a darker note, i dont know what 'you all' are up to but i find that its just rubbish and that i find that ive really lost any respect that i had for 'you all'. since when was it any of your business to meddle in other's lives and give your damned opinions of people that you dont even know well. the game you play can be worked 2ways and im just gonna send the message out that if you mess with my bros then you got to recieve the backlash from me too. the warning is out: if you really think that way about others then you dont deserve our friendship and trust. YOU are the worst of the lot. ive lost any trust i had in you, dont come to me for help or info anymore.

LISTEN UP

this is the only- and last- time im gonna say this to explain myself. the only thing that i meant last night was that i did not get a good impression when i first say yall. BUT thats beside the point because i didnt know yall then. therefore you could say that my judgement was cloudy and untrue. SO- what im trying to say is that you should not feel offended coz i totally understand the reason that you all do the things you do, and im not at all biased or whatever against yall. THEREFORE- dont formulate your own conclusions about the kind of person i am before you even know anything or how i think.

oh crap. i think im so dead this year. how am i supposed to go for the vertical marathon in this shape. haha.

im really exercising far too little. my stamina is totally crappy now and i can barely swim already.

went swimming with- guess who- yesterday. went into the bloody-goshdarned-freaking cold water and was totally shivering. when it finally came to the swimming, i found that i cant really swim that much anymore. just a few laps and im all tired out.

DIE DIE DIEEEEE. gonna work-study-exercise-play this hols. hahaha. ill try anyway

Monday, November 06, 2006

went out with the usual bunch again yesterday to relieve boredom.

we hit all the frequent places:

Ang Mo Kio- homework purposes
Beach Road- lunch, oh man the food there is good
Queensway- a sporting person's haven
we pooled together our money and bought this lookgood, feelgood soccer ball.

unfortunately, the lookgood part was gone after like 5mins on the court. boohoo.

Icekimo- hahaha. free ice cream. NICE TOO!!!

Iggy's house- soccer; on the court, at the void deck, in the multistory carpark.

well, it turned out to be pretty interesting after all. i even managed to rush down to yck to see those going to perak off too. haha.

Saturday, November 04, 2006

today was interesting- i found a new spot for flag day money collection. PLUS- i realised that im very thick skinned, haha.

i cant believe i managed to collect like $30-$40 in abour 2 hours! so interesting. 'chatting' to the people there is kinda fun too. kinda took the bore out of doing flag day.

the rest of the day was pretty much tuition and dinner with the family to celebrate mum's birthday. haha. well, there goes one week of my 'holidays'.

Friday, November 03, 2006

whoa. sure does feel good to finnaly get out of the house to play soccer. havent really done that in quite a long while.

took the new street soccer shoes for a trial run today. not bad, they feel rather comfortable when on the court.

met up with iggy after his lessons, went to his house and caught up with an unusually sleepy and quiet andrew. well, it didnt take long for him to wake up and then we made a beeline for the court. woohoo- it was empty. the rest is kinda routine- yaadaa yaadaa, played 1-on-1s and then team matches when the others arrived.

the key point of the day was when the heavy rain interrupted our game and we took to playing some seriously annoying and damn funny board game. while im on the topic- 'Holiday' is the most crappy game ever invented and the inventors should go check whether they have brains. it really takes a lot of patience to complete that game.

in any case, went for dinner at amk central with my family after that. nothing much to state about that. really filling dinner- but its free, so who cares!

just a shout out to all those who are goingfor the perak expedition on Monday:

ENJOY YOURSELVES!!!
