let the nostalgia begin, bear with me:
what was once divided was made whole 4years ago,
now the bond has released its hold,
and what was once divided has become divided once more.
POP today, as well as stepping down from prefects. well, its not like i really care about the prefects thing or whatever since i let it all go last year. haha. its POP that really struck me deep.
4years... or rather closer to three, those are the years ive spent in ncc. and oh how the time has flown, ive passed through the different stages and now im out. i once heard that sometimes this sort of thing feels like waking up from a 4 year dream, but what im feeling now is that all the fun and excitement has left me, and im falling asleep again.
PARTA 2004
just joined catholic high, to be perfectly honest, i believed i was suckered into it by my cousin colin. haha. evill. i was feeling kinda lost and i didnt know what cca to join. i believe it was thanks to BURST and senior jonathan that i took up ncc land. at that point of time i guess i just wanted to join a UG cos i wanted to be an OAL like senior jonathan. besides, CHIOR kicked me out. HAHA. okay, the rest of partA was rather interesting, sort of a wake-up call as i was introduced to life in ncc. i believe the toughest part was the frequent PTs with sir alson, man those were tough days. every inch of my body was aching and sore by the end of trainings. mind you, those were the days where trainings were on saturdays and there was sooooo much time for PT. anyway, i believe the best part of the year was in the annual camp in june, where i got to know people like senior felix ong and others.
PARTB 2005
the year began with camp FEAST. i wont say that its the best camp ive been too, honestly, nowhere near the best. BUT it did allow me to go through things like rapelling that i didnt try before, was interesting when i was frightened half to death by the height. haha. anyway, wasnt long till POP came for senior jeremy's batch stepped down. yeah with that, i kinda got a new role model in ... err... haha. i'll give credit yeah? YES- i took senior felix ong as a role model to try and achieve my goal of being asm. look how it worked out. heh. anyway, it was at the end of this year that we travelled to perak by coach and did the whitewater rafting FOR THE FIRST TIME IN NCC HISTORY. haha. went with FTP but didnt really talk to them since we had like 30 people there. i guess the funniest thing that happened was when we went into the rest stop toilet and water flew out over the top of a toilet cubicle and drenched senior clement. yeah, good times, training was just: " ATTEND-TRAIN-GO HOME". it was all simple and straightforward, nothing to worry about.
PARTC 2006
hoho. the year it ALL changed. ever since the beginning of the year, the excitement of taking over was all around. everyone was like looking forward to it and worrying about posts. i still remember the tension and the pressure that was on us to perform week in and week out. enroute to taking over, i remember the famous lines of senior hadi: "EH. yall are taking over soon, if you show me this sort of standard, i think we should just let the partBs take over instead". planning for POP sure was a drag, finally having to work directly with sir yong, and him aiming for perfection in all the procedures. it wasnt easy, but WE DID IT. after POP, it was the road an extremely busy road all the way, many many activities.
MOUNT OPHIR
yeah, my first time climbing an actual mountain. i believe i didnt get much from this trip although it was truly an experience to be savoured. all the memories i have of this trip come from the shirt i bought. nothing special.
SPECIALIST COURSE P2 06
whats there to say, we missed the most interesting part of the course because we went for SYFOC training. it really was so annoying that we had to go back to amoy quee camp for the remainder of the course after the day's training. i dont think there really was anything new to learn from the course itself. i spent much of the time making new friends from other schools i guess. yeah.
NATIONAL CAMP 06
what can i say. DELTA FORCE! haha. or rather the lame and disgusting powerpuff girls. okay, i found out that SISPEC bunks are unbelievably clean and the beds are nicer than the bed i have at home- KING COIL. ahh. being in a group led by the girl guides, everything was so slack, yeah- EVERYTHING. did ya know they told us to gather at 630 and THEY woke up at 645? WOKE UP. haha. although it seemed like the many activities were very fun, they were all basically very fundamental. i learned how to give basic first aid and do CPR okay... HAH. *wink* i gotta admit, interacting with all the people from different UGs, and even people from different nations was fun. i'll never forget those friends from shanghai and india.
SENIOR SPECIALIST COURSE
eeyer, only 2 days. wheres the fun in that. we didnt get to learn ANYTHING. all we did was teach mutuals for the whole afternoon. BORING. okay, i guess thats kinda the things they want to teach us. the only things i really regret is not putting in effort to try and win some award, and of course, not learning and drills for the pacestick.
OUTWARD BOUND SCHOOL (SINGAPORE)
WAHAHA. okay, i feel really guilty about this one. i chose to go for this instead of Camp Pinnacle. hahaha, deprived some other unlucky soul of the chance to enjoy themselves. this had to be the greatest camp ever. enjoyed just about everything about it. although we were all counting down the days till returning to mainland singapore, it really was a heartwrenching moment to leave when we were waiting for the ferry.
i just have gotta say this: LIVINGSTONE IS THE BEST EVERRRRR.

PARTD 2007
ever since the beginning of the year, it was all about counting down to POP. i mean, this is THE YEAR. and my results are seriously nowhere up to scratch. i need to really work at it. the trainings we had were more or less focused on preparing the partCs for the taking over. well, thats all behind me now.
tell yall what, i really FELT it when sir yong shook my hand and said:" thank you for your contribution." well, i hope he meant it. besides, HE SMILED. its the first time ive seen him do that in some ncc event, TO US.
well, farewell and good luck to the rest of yall. lead well and bring chs ncc to greater heights okay?
screw the ranks and screw the awards. the dont mean anything. all that matter are the memories and the times we spent together.
